UMT receives RM64,060.00 from RHB Bank

Kuala Nerus – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has received a total of RM64,060.00 from donations by corporate agencies for the purpose of helping the poor students affected by the flood last and maintaining the welfare of its students.

 

UMT Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof. Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain said his office provides all sorts of incentives to take care of the welfare of students affected by disasters.

 

“The Student Affairs and Alumni Office always makes sure that the welfare of UMT students are taken care of so that they can focus on their academic matters without mental and emotional stresses.

 

“The students who have received money due to the flood should use the donation well”.

 

He expressed gratitude towards the support provided by the corporate agencies and said that he would welcome potential collaborations that can contribute towards helping the next generation of leaders.

 

Meanwhile, head of Strategic and Innovation Division at RHB Islamic Roshan Jaffar considered the strategic collaboration between RHB Bank and UMT very important in maintaining the welfare of students and conserving the sustainability of the ecosystem.  

 

“In addition to the financial contributions, RHB Bank also organizes programmes that focus on the ecosystem conservation, and the close relationship between the two agencies need to be maintained as RHB Bank and UMT have the same focus, which is SDG14: Life below water.

 

 

Also taking place at the event was the presenting of MySiswa Cards and the zakat contribution to UMT’s Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre. 

 

One of the recipients, Nik Muhammad Amin Nik Sharifullah, was grateful for the received contribution.

 

“I feel very grateful and I thank UMT and the others that have contributed. This will lighten our burden as students since many of our possessions were destroyed during the flood”.

 

The third-year student from the Bachelor of Accounting Programme was among the 58 UMT students affected by the flood that hit several areas in Kuala Nerus last year.
