The programme was intended to enhance the spirit of Ramadan and encourage participants to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of reflection and devotion. The event was officiated by UMT Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain, who emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a month for spiritual purification and for strengthening one’s relationship with Allah SWT and fellow human beings.
“Ramadan is not just about abstaining from eating and drinking, but it is also the best time for reflecting on oneself and improving relationships with others,” he said in his opening speech.
Also present at the event were the Director of Residential College, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Nik Aziz Nik Ali; Deputy Director of On-Campus Residential College, Mr. Zulkarni Ismail; and Deputy Director of Off-Campus Residential College, Mr. Mohd Yusmiza Mamat.
Themed “Lentera Ramadan”, the programme featured various engaging activities, including the Lisanul Haq azan competition, Quran memorization contests, Islamic calligraphy, knowledge-sharing sessions, and “Vivid Ramadan”, which benefited 110 students from Madrasah Seberang Tuan Chik and 20 students from Madrasah Darul Iman.
The success of the programme was also made possible by the support from the sponsors, including RHB Bank, RSF SCAFFOLDERS, and PBG Maju Café.
Part of the Residential College’s initiative, the programme not only helped instil the values of charity and community services through religious activities but also served as proof of UMT’s commitment to implementing programmes focusing on humanitarian values and character development. UMT continues its efforts to produce graduates who not only excel academically but also possess strong personal integrity and moral values.
The holy month of Ramadan serves as the perfect platform for educational institutions to cultivate religious values and strengthen relationships within the campus community and with the local residents.
