Staying true to its commitment to assisting those in need, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) recently distributed bubur lambuk and Ramadan baskets to the campus community and surrounding residents in conjunction with the arrival of the holy month Ramadan.

The event, which was part of UMT’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, was carried out in collaboration with Nestlé Malaysia, which contributed the ingredients for the preparation of the bubur lambuk.

UMT Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry, Community and Digital Network), Prof. Ts. Dr. Noor Maizura Mohamad Noor, said the programme reflects the university’s commitment to assisting those in need, particularly asnaf groups, orphans, and communities around the campus.

“Every year, UMT strives to enliven Ramadan with charitable activities. This programme not only benefits the recipients but also strengthens the bond between the university community and the surrounding society,” she said during the breaking-of-fast event held in conjunction with the programme.

Representing UMT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim at the event, she added that the concern shown by corporate companies in contributing to the well-being of the campus community is greatly appreciated, and such collaboration should be further strengthened towards establishing strategic partnerships in various programmes for sustainability, welfare and education.

A total of 1,200 containers of MAGGI bubur lambuk were distributed to students, staff, and members of the public entering the UMT campus, while 300 Ramadan baskets containing essential items including milk, instant noodles, chocolate beverages, instant drinks and all-purpose seasoning were distributed to students, staff, and other campus community members.

Head of Halal Affairs, Nestlé Malaysia, Nasrul Hadi Mohamed Nor, representing the Executive Director of Group Corporate Affairs, YM Raja Nurmaria Murni Raja Nur Azmi, stated that the contribution was part of the company’s efforts to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and help ease the burden of the community throughout Ramadan.

Volunteers among UMT students and staff worked together to prepare the bubur lambuk and distribute the aid, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and compassion within the campus community.

Muhammad Akmal Haikal Mohd Suhaimi, a Bachelor of Accounting student at UMT, expressed his appreciation for the contribution. “Programmes like this help to ease our financial burden, especially during Ramadan, and I truly appreciate it,” he said.
