In today’s increasingly complex financial landscape, the ability to analyse markets using advanced digital tools has become an essential skill for future professionals. Financial institutions now demand graduates who are not only grounded in theory but also capable of interpreting real-time market data and making informed decisions using industry-standard analytical platforms.
Recognizing this need, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) forged a strategic partnership with TradingView, the world’s leading charting platform and social network for traders and investors. Established under the TradingView Educational Partner Program, the collaboration represents a significant step forward in strengthening market analytics capabilities among both students and academics.
The partnership will strengthen the role of the UMT-CGS East Coast Trading Centre as a regional hub for financial market education. By combining simulated trading facilities with globally recognised analytical platforms, the centre provides a comprehensive environment for students, academics, and the wider community to learn about investing, trading strategies, and market behaviour.
Under the agreement, UMT students and faculty members will receive access to TradingView’s Plus package, giving professional-grade tools to analyze the global financial markets. The platform currently supports a global community of more than 100 million users and offers comprehensive tools including real-time market indices, global financial news, stock screeners and collaborative analysis features.
The integration of TradingView will serve as a powerful catalyst for students across several undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at UMT such as Bachelor of Finance with Honours, Bachelor of Accounting with Honours, and Bachelor of Economics (Natural Resources) with Honours.
Beyond student learning, the initiative also supports capacity building among lecturers and researchers. Access to TradingView’s advanced analytical tools enables academics to integrate real market data into their teaching, conduct applied research on financial markets, and develop more interactive and industry-relevant learning materials.
This partnership also supports UMT’s aspiration to strengthen industry-linked education, ensuring that students graduate with both conceptual understanding and practical market competencies. As the financial industry becomes increasingly digital and data-driven, the ability to navigate sophisticated analytical platforms is rapidly becoming a core professional skill.
