UMT organizes career expo, offers 2000 employment opportunities

Kuala Nerus, 9 October – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) through its Centre for Graduate Entrepreneurship and Employability (UMT-GEM) and Office of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) has organized the MyNext Internship Market Week X Career Entrepreneurship and Skills Festival (MyNEXT IMW X CESF’24) in conjunction with the Industry and Career Expo 2024 (ICE 2024).

 

The programme held at UMT’s Sultan Mizan Hall and open to the public began on 9 October and lasted for three days.

 

The carnival offered more than 2,000 employment opportunities to students, alumni, and the local community.

 

A total of 44 companies from various sectors participated and advertised job vacancies at their companies. They also shared about the latest trends in the industry to the visitors.

 

UMT Vice Chancellor Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim said the organizing of the carnival was part of UMT’s commitment in producing graduates who are holistic and competitive, in line with the university’s vision of preparing students to face the challenges of the work world that is becoming more dynamic.

 

“This initiative serves a proof of UMT’s commitment in ensuring our graduates possess relevant skills and knowledge to compete in the global work market,” he said.

 

In addition, the programme also provided an opportunity to UMT students to receive direct exposure regarding the industry’s needs and increase their employability through various information and experience sharing by the companies involved.

 

“Innovation, cooperation, and excellence are our initiative’s thrusts. UMT also makes the effort to develop and establish a strong sharing platform involving industry players to ensure our graduates are equipped with the latest knowledge and relevant skills to compete in the global work market” he said.

 

He added that exposure to the latest technology and critical industrial skills is important to ensure UMT graduates are ready to contribute to the rapid growth of the industry.

 

“In line with the industrial revolution, we need to make use of collaborations and networking to prepare a bigger future for the next generation” he added.

 

The carnival also served as a platform for UMT to strengthen its role as an institution that aims to produce highly skilled and resourceful graduates, in addition to expanding the collaborative networking with the industry with the objective of improving the graduates’ employability.
