Kuala Nerus, 31 July – The Corporate Communications Office of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) recently hosted a benchmarking visit from the delegation of the Corporate Communications Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in a two-way engagement session that discussed various strategic aspects of university communication.

The 29-member delegation, led by Associate Professor Dr. Shazli Ezzat Ghazali, Director of UKM’s Corporate Communication Centre, was warmly welcomed by staff of UMT’s Corporate Communications Office at the Chancellery Building.

The two-way session centred on comprehensive discussions around the strategic role of corporate communication in strengthening institutional branding, communication and crisis management, as well as the empowerment of digitalisation in delivering information to target audiences.

During the presentation and engagement session, both parties shared experiences and challenges in handling internal and external communications, including public perception management and the effectiveness of digital communication channels such as social media and official university portals.

Director of UMT’s Corporate Communications Office, Zukiferee Ibrahim, described the session as a vital platform for reinforcing strategic networks between institutions and encouraged the exchange of best practices in the increasingly complex landscape of higher education communication.

“UKM has been established much earlier, so we at UMT consider it a great honour when chosen to be visited,” he said.

“We believe that sessions like these can open the door to broader collaboration between institutions, particularly in shaping strong and comprehensive brand narratives.”

In addition to the discussion session, the visit also included a tour of the Creative Media studio to show UKM delegates the technical capabilities and the creative content management implemented by UMT’s Corporate Communications Office.

He added that the official visit is hoped to serve as a catalyst for closer collaboration between UKM and UMT in the field of strategic communication, in line with both institutions’ aspirations to strengthen their reputation and credibility at the national and international levels.
