KUALA NERUS – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has continued to strengthen its strategic partnerships with industry players in an effort to expand the commercialisation of its innovations and enhance the corporate image of the higher education institution both nationally and internationally.
The proactive initiative has recently been realised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UMT and Exacmust Sdn. Bhd., held at the UMT campus. The event also featured the launch of the exclusive U&ME Together (Special Edition) product, a creative collaboration between both parties symbolising unity and belonging among members of the university community.
The strategic collaboration will be implemented through UMT Ihsan Centre with the establishment of Marmoris Outlet, the official university souvenir shop that serves as the main platform for marketing uniquely designed UMT-branded products by students, as well as collaborative items with industry partners that have commercialisation potential.
UMT Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim, said that the partnership represents an important step in strengthening the university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and sustainable income generation efforts.
“Universiti Malaysia Terengganu constantly strives to enhance strategic relationships with industry partners to broaden the commercialisation of innovations and elevate the university’s corporate image.
This approach aligns with the university’s aspiration to build an entrepreneurial and income-generating ecosystem that is sustainable and impactful to both the university community and the local society,” he said.
He added that the U&ME Together (Limited Edition) product embodies the spirit of unity, togetherness, and shared identity among UMT members.
“This concept is not merely a brand, but a symbol of collective strength between the university, industry, and community. Through this collaboration with Exacmust Sdn. Bhd., we hope this shared value can be expressed through exclusive products that symbolically reflect this strong partnership,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the establishment of Marmoris Outlet is also seen as one of UMT’s high-impact initiatives to empower the university’s brand through innovative and competitive commercial strategies.
The signing of the MoU marked the beginning of a broader collaboration framework between UMT and Exacmust Sdn. Bhd., particularly in design, marketing, and product development areas, with the potential to penetrate national markets.
This agreement is expected to generate positive returns and strengthen efforts to expand the university’s brand commercialisation, further enhancing the image of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu as a leading institution grounded in knowledge, innovation, and impactful contributions to society.
